Dr. Elsaesser has found success for more than a decade as a project scientist with Cardno, owned by Stantec. Prior to this role, he was an assistant scientist with Terra Environmental Services Inc. from 2007 to 2010, and from 2001 to 2007, he was a research associate and laboratory instructor at the University of South Florida. Dr. Elsaesser garnered experience as a hatchery manager and aquaculture technician with Bayshellfish Aquaculture in Palmetto, Florida, from 1999 to 2001.

Experienced in his field, Dr. Elsaesser has written and contributed to articles in professional journals. He was the co-author of “Determination of the effect diet has on the elemental composition of the juvenile shells of the Hard Clam, Mercenaria mercenaria” in the Journal of Shellfish Research in 2011. He also co-authored articles in the same journal in 2005 and 2004 and has given numerous presentations throughout his career. Dr. Elsaesser has maintained membership to the National Shellfisheries Association.

In preparation for his career, Dr. Elsaesser attended Florida State University and graduated with a Bachelor of Science in biological and biomedical sciences in 1999. He continued his education at the University of South Florida’s College of Marine Science, graduating in 2014 with a Doctor of Philosophy in biological oceanography. Passionate about the ocean, Dr. Elsaesser attributes his success to his love of science, which began at a young age. In the coming years, he plans to focus his research on the climate and hopes to support the United States’ transition into more renewable energy sources.
