Jeniffer Masi, PhD, Chief Geoscientist at Geoex MCG, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Scientists for dedication, achievements, and leadership in geoscience.
Since 2020, Dr. Masi has excelled as the chief geoscientist at Geoex MCG, before which she held the role of geoscience advisor with the company from 2019 to 2020. From 2015 to 2019, she garnered experience as a geophysicist with Osprey Petroleum Company Inc., where she developed and oversaw operations in Texas and Louisiana. Dr. Masi found success from 2013 to 2015 as a geophysicist with BP p.l.c.
From 2013 to 2015, Dr. Masi served Rice University in a complementary research appointment, before which she worked as a research assistant at the institution from 2008 to 2013. In 2012, she was a geophysicist intern with BP p.l.c., and from 2007 to 2008, she worked with Funvisis in Venezuela. Dr. Masi began her career in Venezuela in 2005, working as a geophysicist intern with Teikoku Oil and Gas Venezuela C.A.
In preparation for her career pursuits, Dr. Masi attended Universidad Simón Bolívar, where she earned a Bachelor of Science in geophysics in 2007. In 2013, she concluded her higher education at Rice University, graduating with a Doctor of Philosophy in Earth science. To keep abreast of her field, Dr. Masi maintains affiliation as the senior trustee and president of the Houston chapter of the Association of Women in Science since 2018. She served as a board member and secretary of the Geophysical Society of Houston from 2021 to 2022 and maintains membership with the American Association of Petroleum Geologists, the Houston Geological Society and the Society of Exploration Geophysicists, among further affiliations.
Among her accomplishments, Dr. Masi received the Sam Worden Endowed Memorial Fund in Geophysics from the Earth science department at Rice University in 2014. She is the two-time recipient of the Torkild Rieber Award in Geology and earned an Outstanding Student Paper Award from the American Geophysical Union in 2009. Dr. Masi has found additional success through her written works, co-authoring “A New and Improved Velocity Model for the Southeastern Caribbean” in GeoExpro in 2022, among numerous publication credits. In the future, she hopes to transition into a management role while continuing to hone her technical prowess.
