His responsibilities include selecting appropriate solutions for complex problems in the factory area, focusing on data challenges, and establishing the data and AI technical foundation for American Airlines. Additionally, he evaluates technology software to help American Airlines advance in the AI and data space and expands his expertise by assisting Databricks customers in addressing their needs through AI-driven data solutions. 

Mr. Tilak’s experience also includes serving as senior principal data architect at American Airlines from 2021 to 2024, principal architect for big data from 2018 to 2021, software programmer analyst from 2012 to 2018, software developer at PDX Inc., which provides patient-centric and innovative technologies for pharmacies and health systems, from 2009 to 2012, web developer at Southern Methodist University from 2007 to 2009, and assistant systems engineer at Tata Consultancy Services from 2005 to 2007. He is also an active member of the Employee Resource Group and was honored with the Chairman’s Award from American Airlines in 2021. Laying a solid educational foundation, he earned a bachelor’s degree in electrical and electronics engineering from Veermata Jijabai Technological Institute in 2005, a master’s degree in computer science from Southern Methodist University in 2008, and certification as a Microsoft Azure Solutions Architect Expert.

Reflecting on his path, Mr. Tilak says he has always been passionate about engineering. After studying electronics engineering and learning coding, he decided to stay in the field and never looked back. He takes great pride in spearheading and innovating American Airlines’ data and analytics platform from the ground up. He played a key role in designing all aspects of the system and successfully implemented an internal platform used by 3,000 employees at American Airlines. This significant contribution earned him the prestigious Chairman’s Award, the highest recognition for outstanding team members at the airline. He attributes his success to his proactive approach to continuous learning and growth, as he actively seeks out new technologies and knowledge, integrating them into his work while advocating for fairness. He firmly believes that diligence and hard work are the keys to success. Additionally, he credits his family as a constant source of encouragement, offering both personal and professional support.

In the coming years, Mr. Tilak is determined to advance his career and assume a leadership role within the organization’s technical department. His ultimate goal is to attain the position of chief technology officer or chief information officer while expanding his expertise in project management. In the short term, he aims to build his own portfolio and establish his voice in the vast world of engineering and technology, embracing experimentation to achieve this. Long term, he aspires to become a technology leader in large organizations or help grow a company to a significant scale, leveraging his skills and experience to drive innovation and growth.
