Moti Yung, PhD, research scientist at Google, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Scientists for dedication, achievements, and leadership in the computer science industry.
Drawing on more than 35 years of experience, Dr. Yung is a proven expert in the field of scientific research. Specializing in computer science and cybersecurity, he has operated as a research scientist for Google since 2007. As part of his duties in the field, he primarily manages research and security tasks linked to cryptography and user privacy. In addition to his primary duties, Dr. Yung has also served as an adjunct professor at Columbia University since 1990, where he achieved his PhD in computer science in 1988.
In his other professional endeavors, Dr. Yung previously worked with Snap Inc. (formerly Snapchat) from 2016 to 2018 as a security and privacy scientist. Likewise, from 2005 to 2007, he was the technical director of RSA labs at RSA Security LLC. He also held the positions of vice president and chief scientist at Certco LLC from 1996 to 2002, and he was a researcher at IBM from 1988 to 1996. At the onset of his career, Dr. Yung excelled as an independent consultant between 1987 and 1988.
Prior to beginning his vocational journey, Dr. Yung began his academic pursuits in his native home of Israel, where he earned both bachelor’s and master’s degrees in his field. As part of his dedication to his profession, he also remains affiliated with the European Association for Theoretical Computer Science. Well-regarded for his extensive scholarly output as well, he has authored and contributed numerous papers to professional journals throughout his career. Dr. Yung’s noteworthy publications include his 2011 piece, “Multifactor Authenticated Key Renewal,” from the Proceedings of International Conference on Trusted Systems, and his 2006 work, “Applying Context to Web Authentication,” from the W3C Workshop on Transparency and Usability of Web Authentication.
To commemorate Dr. Yung’s contributions, he has been honored with several accolades. To wit, the IEEE (Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers) Computer Society recognized him with the Women of the ENIAC Computer Pioneer Award and the W.W. McDowell Award in 2017. Furthermore, he was celebrated with an Outstanding Innovation Award from the ACM Special Interest Group on Security, Audit and Control. Attributing much of his success to his dedicated work ethic and interdisciplinary knowledge, he is particularly proud of his extensive tenure in the realms of cryptography and cybersecurity.
