Renan Bueno Sper, DVM, PhD, senior scientist at Mammoth Biosciences Inc., has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Scientists for dedication, achievements, and leadership in the field of genetic science.
Well-regarded for more than 15 years of contributions to the cause of scientific research, Dr. Sper has distinguished himself as a senior scientist at Mammoth Biosciences Inc., a biotechnology company that seeks to develop diagnostic tests that leverage the latest advances in genetic engineering, including CRISPR. With his research largely focusing on the cultivation of therapeutic treatments for neuromuscular disorders and congenital diseases, Dr. Sper has long sought to deepen his knowledge of gene editing technology and spearhead a positive change in the lives of millions of patients. In honor of his contributions, he has been the recipient of several research awards from various university conferences and symposia.
Born in Brazil, Dr. Sper undertook veterinary coursework at the Federal University of Uberlândia, after which he relocated to the United States. After completing his clinical residency in theriogenology at the North Carolina State University College of Veterinary Medicine, he received a Doctor of Philosophy in comparative biomedical science in 2017. Following this accomplishment, he participated in a postdoctoral regenerative biology program at the University of California San Francisco Center for Maternal-Fetal Precision Medicine. Dr. Sper went on to work for Genedit, where he served for a short period before joining Mammoth Biosciences in 2022.
As a commitment to his field, Dr. Sper has been active with several relevant organizations, including the American Society of Gene & Cell Therapy. Much sought-after for his expertise in genetic science, he has also been the author or co-author of several peer-reviewed papers that have appeared in a number of scientific journals, including Frontiers, the Journal of Immunology, the Open Journal of Obstetrics & Gynecology, and the Equine Veterinary Journal, to name only a few. Additionally, Dr. Sper holds two patents.
In accounting for his success, Dr. Sper credits his propensity for persistence and patience, as well as his early experiences in the field. The financial challenges he faced during his youth did much to cultivate in him a sense of perseverance, which has paid dividends in both recognition and lives saved. Within the next several years, Dr. Sper hopes to gain further recognition as an incredibly talented figure in the field of genetic science, and to avail himself on behalf of those whose conditions have gone untreated for far too long.
