Timothy D. Cutler, PhD, a senior scientist at Boehringer Ingelheim Animal Health, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Scientists for dedication, achievements, and leadership in the field of formulations science.

Dr. Cutler has distinguished himself as a senior scientist at Boehringer Ingelheim Animal Health. Formed as a merger between Merial and Boehringer Ingelheim’s animal health business, the company produces a number of products and vaccines for domestic pets, livestock and wildlife. Hailing from a wealth of expertise in the field of biochemistry and physics, as well as over a decade spent in regulated industries, Dr. Cutler’s area of focus resides in the research of recombinant vaccines, as well as protein chemistry, purification, and stability. 

Leveraging more than 35 years of excellence as a research scientist, Dr. Cutler previously served in various research roles, including as a group leader for product support at IDEXX, a scientific representative at Elanco, a special projects scientist with the Texas Vet Lab, a department manager at Midland Bioproducts Corp, and a research and development scientist with Diamond Animal Health Inc. Prior to his work at Diamond Animal Health, he worked for several years on behalf of the Good Samaritan Health System and SmithKline Beecham, having begun his career at Novartis AG in 1987. Throughout the span of his professional journey, Dr. Cutler found additional success in academia as a research assistant at Iowa State University and an adjunct professor at the Des Moines Area Community College. 

During his time at Iowa State University, Dr. Cutler undertook doctoral coursework toward a PhD in veterinary microbiology, which he earned in 2010. His research largely centered on the development of analytical methods for the inactivation and quantification of aerosolized viral pathogens. Well-regarded for his prolific presence in the research community, Dr. Cutler’s work has appeared in numerous scientific publications, including the Canadian Journal of Veterinary Research, Veterinary Microbiology and Animal Health Research Reviews, among others. To remain aware of developments in the field, he also maintains his affiliation with such organizations as the American Society for Quality. 

In accounting for his success, Mr. Cutler largely credits his tenacity and perseverance in solving every challenge he encounters, as well as the love and support of his wife. Among his most cherished accomplishments, he is particularly proud to have had his college work referenced in physics publications, and to have served on the team that produced a vaccine for Lyme disease. Looking toward the future, Mr. Cutler aspires to obtain a lucrative consulting position in the industry.
