Carolina L. Zilli Vieira, DDS, PhD, research associate and instructor at the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Scientists for dedication, achievements, and leadership in environmental health and research.
Across a career spanning more than 20 years, Dr. Zilli Vieira has established herself as a leading figure in the field of environmental and public health. She currently serves as an instructor at the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health and an undergraduate teaching instructor at Harvard University. Additionally, Dr. Zilli Vieira has contributed as a research associate in environmental health at the same institutions since 2019. Prior to pivoting to environmental pathology, she held the position of dental surgeon at Odontologia Futura Dental Clinic and Alvesi & Alvesi Dental Clinic, both located in her hometown of Sấo Paulo, Brazil.
Dr. Zilli Vieira’s success is built on a strong academic foundation. She obtained a Doctor of Dental Surgery in dentistry from the Universidade Estadual Paulista Júlio de Mesquita Filho in 2001. Dr. Zilli Vieira subsequently earned a PhD in cardiovascular science from the Faculdade de Medicina da Universidade de São Paulo in 2009, followed by pursuing a postdoctoral fellowship in environmental pathology at the same institution. She immigrated to the United States in 2015 to become a research fellow at Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health, completing a postgraduate degree in environmental health in 2019. Dr. Zilli Vieira credits her success to persistence, trust in herself and her practice of meditation.
Beyond her professional life, Dr. Zilli Vieira is a devoted mother to two sons and enjoys reading and practicing yoga in her free time. She remains committed to furthering her career in environmental health, whether she continues as a teacher or focuses more on lab work. Dr. Zilli Vieira also hopes to write books in the future, with particular interest in writing about the history of evolution and her research on solar activity. She is currently eager to study links between space weather, radiation and circadian rhythm in populations.
