Across nearly 15 years, Dr. Marshall has built his reputation as a thought leader in the hydroponics field. Since 2010, he has owned and served as the chief executive officer of Tropical Hydrosystems. In this role, Dr. Marshall studies the effects of global warming on agriculture and horticulture. In particular, his research focuses on the relationship between climate change and plant reproduction and metabolism. Dr. Marshall engages with hydroponics, aeroponics and aquaponics to explore the potential for improving plant survivability in the future. His work is a key part of ensuring that food production is not disrupted as a result of climate change.

Before beginning on his professional path, Dr. Marshall sought a strong academic foundation. He first obtained a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, followed by a Master of Business Administration from the University of Michigan. Outside of his career, Dr. Marshall is a devoted husband and father to four children. He is dedicated to continuing his research in the coming years, with an eye toward addressing issues surrounding global food production and sustainability. Dr. Marshall believes the scientific community needs to find solutions for replacing the nutrients in soil, and he hopes to be involved in that process.
