His experience also includes senior scientist II and team lead at i3 Pharmaceuticals from 2021 to 2022, senior scientist I and team lead at i3 Pharmaceuticals from 2020 to 2021, and research scientist III at i3 Pharmaceuticals from 2018 to 2020. He also worked as analytical scientist III at Tris Pharma from 2015 to 2018 and senior analytical R&D chemist at Tris Pharma from 2014 to 2015. He is actively involved in the professional community through his membership in the American Chemical Society and his charitable contributions to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. Reflecting on his career, he considers his primary accomplishment to be the enhancement of existing commercially available equipment through the application of chemistry. His work focuses on developing materials for testing techniques that improve the efficiency and accuracy of data obtained from new equipment prototypes.
Known for his eagerness to embrace challenges, Dr. Yerneni is committed to troubleshooting and learning new concepts. As an immigrant from India, he came to America to pursue his American dream, which he views as a continuing journey of achievement and progress. In light of his impressive undertakings, he was honored with the Best Poster Award at the 5th Annual Research Symposium, Purdue NOBCChE in 2013, the Best Student Researcher Award at Western Illinois University in 2008, and the Appreciation Award for Academic Excellence at Western Illinois University in 2007.
Dr. Yerneni attributes his success to his graduate school mentor, Professor Mary Wirth, whose guidance was instrumental in shaping him into the scientist and researcher he is today. He also credits the influence of his mother, and a fellow doctoral student, whose entrepreneurial success inspired his own aspirations. His perseverance and determination have been key drivers of his growth and achievements. In the coming years, he aims to establish a company and build a proficient team to bring innovative concepts to fruition. He envisions taking on a significant leadership role, overseeing a larger team while mentoring individuals entering the field. Though focused on guiding and supporting others, he plans to remain hands-on when needed. He advises aspiring professionals to cultivate strong willpower and determination. He underscores the importance of keeping an open mind, being receptive to learning, and embracing experimentation with new ideas to foster innovation and success.
