Rongguo Zhao, PhD, senior research and development (R&D) director and chief scientist of Zhejiang Baihao Industry & Trade Co. Ltd., has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Scientists for dedication, achievements, and leadership in research and development and manufacturing.
Dr. Zhao, a distinguished leader in R&D and manufacturing, joined Zhejiang Baihao Industry & Trade Co. Ltd. as a senior R&D director and chief scientist in 2023. His primary career objectives include initiating, organizing and planning R&D activities, leading various projects, engaging in project management responsibilities, and working with academia and industrial customers. Dr. Zhao’s expertise in multiple areas of the industry, such as business and product development, strategic planning and intellectual properties, have been pivotal to his success. He is also grateful for his nearly 20 years of experience developing products for surgical and medical applications that are in use today.
Before joining his company, Dr. Zhao spent 30 years in various progressive roles, beginning as a chemist with China Textile Academy in 1995 and later working for such organizations as Ahlstrom as a senior R&D scientist and senior design associate, Polymer Group Inc. as a principal engineer and principal engineer scientist of global growth and innovation, and Berry Global Inc. as a principal engineer scientist.
Highly educated in his field, Dr. Zhao earned a Bachelor of Science in analytical chemistry from the Beijing Institute of Clothing Technology, followed by a Master of Science in textile science and a PhD in polymer and textile science and nonwoven technologies from the University of Tennessee in Knoxville in 1998 and 2001, respectively. Besides his education, he has been active in the Society of Plastic Engineers, Sigma XI, the Scientific Research Society, the American Association of Textile Chemists and Colorists, and the China Textile Engineering Society. Dr. Zhao also founded a professional group on LinkedIn, Microfiber Nanofiber and Nonwoven Professionals. As a seasoned researcher, he has contributed numerous articles to scholarly journals and other publications, such as the Journal of Applied Polymer Science, and has received several accolades for his contributions to the field. His future goals include bringing several additional products to market in the coming years.
