Dr. Krishnamurthy, a distinguished research and development manufacturing professional, has been affiliated with Advanced Micro Devices (AMD) Inc. in Austin, Texas, since 2022, where he is actively involved in artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning as a senior fellow. Based in Santa Clara, California, the semiconductor manufacturing company is passionate about developing computer chips that accelerate next-generation computing experiences. Responsible for co-designing and co-optimizing software and hardware, Dr. Krishnamurthy also gathers customer requirements for the applications they are interested in, builds target models and applications, and determines the impacts the applications would have on the current chips being constructed.

Beginning his career as a researcher at IBM in 2003, Dr. Krishnamurthy became the technology company’s chief architect and engineering manager from 2006 to 2017. Subsequently, he served as a global technical director and chief architect until 2022. Dr. Krishnamurthy became widely recognized during his tenure for defining and building an AI software layer for all its enterprise products. He also received numerous accolades, including a Best of IBM Award and a Corporate Award in 2016 and an IBM Master Inventor recognition every year between 2015 and 2018. Dr. Krishnamurthy has also notably been an inventor and co-inventor of over 100 patents.

Highly educated, Dr. Krishnamurthy achieved a Doctor of Philosophy in computer science and engineering from Georgia Institute of Technology. He is active in his professional industry as a member of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers and the IBM Academy of Technology. He also serves on the board of advisors for the Center for Artificial Intelligence Innovation at the National Center for Supercomputing Applications since 2020 and has been the co-director of the Center for Enterprise AI at the University of Oregon since 2021. Mr. Krishnamurthy attributes his success to understanding customer issues and effectively representing them in engineering design.
