Dr. Patil, an esteemed dental professional and educator, became a full professor in the college of dental medicine at Roseman University of Health Sciences in South Jordan, Utah, in 2022. As such, he maintains a delicate balance between teaching, mentoring, conducting research and running a clinical trial. Before being acquired by the university, Dr. Patil was an associate professor in the college of dentistry at Jazan University in Saudi Arabia from 2016 to 2022.

Beginning his career in higher education in 2009, Dr. Patil was a senior lecturer at KLE Society’s Institute of Dental Sciences in India. He then joined MS Ramaiah University of Applied Sciences in India as an associate professor in the faculty of dental sciences from 2012 to 2015. Over the past 15 years, Dr. Patil has dedicated his research solely to dental education and oral oncology.

Highly educated, Dr. Patil received a Bachelor of Science in dental surgery from PM Nadagouda Memorial Dental College and Hospital in 2003 and a Master of Science in dental surgery and oral and maxillofacial pathology at Sree Balaji Dental College and Hospital in India in 2009. A decade later, he secured a Doctor of Philosophy in medical biotechnology from the University of Siena in Italy in 2019. In addition to his formal education, Dr. Patil received professional credentials in biomedical research and GCP for clinical trials with investigational drugs and biologics through the CITI Program.

Beyond his professional success, Dr. Patil has maintained affiliation with several prominent organizations, including the American Dental Education Association, American Dental Association , American Academy of Oral and Maxillofacial Pathologists, the International Association for Dental, Oral and Craniofacial Research, the American Association for the advancement of Science, and the American Academy of Oral Medicine, among others. He is also a Fellow of several prestigious professional organizations, including the Royal College of Pathologists, the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Glasgow, the International College of Dentists, the Pierre Fauchard Academy, and the ADEA Leadership Institute.

Dr. Patil has garnered tremendous rewards from giving back to worthy causes, including various oral hygiene education and community outreach programs as a volunteer. He also generously supports and fundraises for an orphanage in India.

Dr. Patil’s works have included collaborating on a National Institute of Health grant for the use of photodynamic therapy on oral cancer. As a seasoned researcher, he has contributed to numerous prestigious scholarly journals, including the Journal of the American Dental Association, Journal of Dental Education, The Lancet, New England Journal of Medicine, Clinical Oral Investigations, and International Dental Journal. Dr. Patil’s works have earned him over 20,000 citations from researchers worldwide on Google Scholar. Among his efforts to raise social awareness, he has authored a correspondence in The Lancet titled “A Crisis of Safety: Female Health-Care Workers in India Need Reforms.”

In light of his success, Dr. Patil was ranked among the top 2% of scientists across all disciplines, an honorable achievement that is a testament to his dedication to advancing dental science. Inspired to give back to society and inspire the next generation, he remains passionate about mentoring students, particularly integrating digital technology and AI into the dental curriculum. Dr. Patil aspires to continue progressing in his field, taking on various leadership roles where he can ultimately become the dean of research and innovation at his university.
