Ms. Callery, founder and science communicator at eco-nana.com, has dedicated her career to environmental advocacy and education. Since 2024, she has been at the helm of eco-nana.com, based in Arroyo Grande, California. Her mission is to educate the public about climate change and environmental issues through accessible content aimed at grandparents and their families. Ms. Callery’s platform offers educational materials, including activities for children, to foster awareness and action on topics such as endangered species, pollution and climate misinformation.

Before founding eco-nana.com, Ms. Callery had a distinguished career at NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory in Pasadena, California. From 2015 to 2024, she was the managing editor of NASA’s Global Climate Change website. Additionally, she managed public engagement for earth science between 2010 and 2021, where she played a pivotal role in communicating complex scientific information to the public.

Before her time at NASA, Ms. Callery worked with the California Environmental Protection Agency from 2007 to 2010 as a public outreach specialist and climate change team lead. Her earlier career included roles in the entertainment industry as a senior contract administrator and paralegal for companies such as Warner Bros. Television and Starz Media. Ms. Callery also held political roles, serving as a city council member and deputy mayor in Poway during the 1990s.

Ms. Callery’s academic background includes a Bachelor of Science in kinesiology from the University of California, Los Angeles, and a Master of Applied Science in environmental policy and management from the University of Denver in 2011. She also received a paralegal certificate from the University of California, San Diego, in 2002. Ms. Callery’s education has been foundational in her ability to effectively communicate environmental issues and engage with diverse audiences.

Active in her professional community, Ms. Callery has held memberships with the American Association for the Advancement of Science. She has also participated in the leadership team of the SLO Climate Coalition, an organization devoted to encouraging climate solutions by collaborating with the community, and has been involved with the National Speakers Bureau. As a speaker, Ms. Callery has delivered numerous talks on climate change, emphasizing the importance of understanding human impact on the planet.

In addition to her professional achievements, Ms. Callery is actively involved in civic organizations. She supports various groups promoting renewable energy across Santa Barbara County, Ventura County and San Luis Obispo County. Ms. Callery is also a board member for the Orang Utan Republik Foundation’s tree planting program in Indonesia.

In light of her success at NASA, Ms. Callery was instrumental in winning three Webby Awards and five People’s Choice Awards in 2022. She was also honored to receive a NASA Honor Award, a JPL Award and a City Council Award.

Ms. Callery attributes her success to her parents, who taught her the importance of volunteering and traveling, which opened her eyes and helped her acquire her tenure with NASA, which spanned over a decade. Her future goals include continued success, empowering individuals with tools to understand environmental impacts and encouraging proactive measures for planetary preservation.
