Before joining Microsoft, Ms. Workman spent over a decade at IBM. She began with the tech giant as an application developer working on the Lucent Technologies account and supporting telecom systems. Her success ultimately earned her the role of director of transition and transformation between 1997 and 2011.
Ms. Workman’s academic background laid a strong foundation for her professional achievements. She earned a Bachelor of Science in marketing from San Diego State University in 1992 and a Master of Science in information systems with a focus on human resources from Colorado State University in 1997. Her education has been complemented by several professional credentials, such as the completion of Microsoft’s leadership for positive impact program and the project management professional certification, further bolstering her leadership capabilities.
Aside from her work-related commitments, Ms. Workman’s commitment to civic engagement is evident through her involvement with various organizations. Since 2018, she has been a board member of Wounded Warriors Family Support, supporting initiatives like adapted vehicle programs and housing support for veterans. Her dedication has extended to mentoring through the Global Give Back Circle, where she supports the education and personal growth of young women like those in Kenya. As a court-appointed special advocate for CASA of Larimer County since 2021, she helps foster children navigate challenging times. Further highlighting her commitment to community, she has been a board member of the Gorilla Rehabilitation and Conservation Education Center since 2023, contributing to efforts that rescue orphaned gorillas. Previously, Ms. Workman was the treasurer and board member of The United States Pony Clubs Inc. from 2014 to 2018.
Throughout her career, Ms. Workman has been recognized for numerous accomplishments. She notably spearheaded the implementation of Arizona’s first modernized child welfare system, a groundbreaking achievement that leveraged technology for social good. She was also pivotal in advancing technology at the New York City Police Department through a $300 million contract that enhanced operational capabilities with innovations such as advanced surveillance systems and gunshot detection cameras.
In recognition of her contributions, Ms. Workman received the Founders Award in 2018. Her contributions to modernizing court systems were also highlighted in CIO Magazine. She attributes her success to influential leaders and role models who have provided mentorship and opportunities throughout her career.
