Title: IT Strategy for Product and Foundry
Company: Intel Corporation
Location: Portland, Oregon, United States
Madhurasmitha Chakravarthy, working in information technology (IT) strategy for product and foundry at Intel, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Scientists for dedication, achievements, and leadership in information technology and automation.
Born in India, Ms. Chakravarthy moved often with her parents, attending nine different schools during her childhood and teenage years. Though those early years were tumultuous, her parents were deeply supportive when she decided to pursue a career in engineering. After graduating from one of India’s top colleges, Ms. Chakravarthy found her first job in the industry as a software engineer for Kindle Systems, a Dublin-based software company. After a couple of years with the company, she got married, immigrated to the United States and chose to continue her academic journey.
In 2004, Ms. Chakravarthy joined Intel Corporation, where she has now worked for over 20 years. She was first hired by the company as a systems integration engineer, a role she held for more than five years. Ms. Chakravarthy’s early work for Intel focused on the foundry side of the company’s operations, with her writing automation code for its factories. Establishing herself as an expert in that field, she was promoted to the position of technical program and project manager in 2011.
Quickly developing at the organization, Ms. Chakravarthy has demonstrated a strong trajectory on her path to greater leadership roles. Her increasing responsibilities have included time as the manager of online foundry services, the director of business operations, the director of enterprise solution architecture and product engineering solutions IT, the senior director of product engineering and quality solutions IT, and the interim general manager of product engineering IT. Since 2021, Ms. Chakravarthy has served Intel in IT information strategy for product and foundry. This culmination of her career represents a relative rarity in the field: the uncommon combination of expertise in both the product and foundry sectors. Intel’s business and technical sides are often separated, but Ms. Chakravarthy showcases proficiency in both. She has the technical knowledge required to deeply engage with engineers but also the insight and communication skills necessary to succeed on the business side of Intel, attending customer and marketing meetings.
Ms. Chakravarthy’s performance in the field was born of her academic journey, beginning with a Bachelor of Science in information technology from the Bhusanayana Mukundadas Sreenivasaiah College of Engineering and a bachelor’s degree in engineering and IT from Bangalore University, both earned in 1999. After immigrating to the U.S., she completed coursework in computer science at San José State University. Subsequently, Ms. Chakravarthy earned a Master of Science in computer science from Portland State University in 2004. She completed certification in executive leadership through the Cornell Johnson Graduate School of Management and in change leadership through the Cornell SC Johnson College of Business, both in 2018.
Known for her contributions as a civic-minded citizen, Ms. Chakravarthy also devotes much of her time to music education, another area of passion for her. Since 2010 she has contributed as a music teacher a Balaji Temple and as the managing director of the Hindu Educational and Cultural Society of America. Through these nonprofit ventures, Ms. Chakravarthy promotes awareness of Hindu culture, especially its music. Additionally, she volunteers with various community efforts, such as planting trees, feeding the homeless and organizing with Habitat for Humanity International.
Beyond her impressive professional life, Ms. Chakravarthy is a dedicated wife and mother to two children. She finds great joy in cooking for friends and family. Though she has already accomplished much, Ms. Chakravarthy looks forward to continuing to grow and pursue solutions to more impactful challenges in her industry. She hopes to join a product-focused company in the future, with an eye toward artificial intelligence, recognizing the growing importance of that technology. Alternatively, Ms. Chakravarthy is also considering transitioning into education at some point, with the goal of becoming an adjunct professor. She has a strong passion for teaching and mentorship and is eager to help uplift the next generation however she can.
