Daniel J.D. Sullivan, PhD, Senior Account Executive at EAG Laboratories, Eurofins Scientific, and Author, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Scientists for dedication, achievements and leadership in Cellular Analysis Research.

Dr. Sullivan has established a distinguished career in cellular analysis, earning recognition for his expertise and leadership across multiple organizations. Since 2021, he has served as a senior account executive at EAG Laboratories, a subsidiary of Eurofins Scientific, where he has played a pivotal role in supporting the company’s commercial team. In this capacity, Dr. Sullivan assists clients with resolving materials and failure analysis issues, as well as reliability testing.

Instrumental in bridging the gap between engineering, science and sales, Dr. Sullivan has been conducting sales calls, providing laboratory tours and ensuring that customer samples are processed efficiently with the appropriate analytical tools. Dr. Sullivan’s transition into this role followed a significant health challenge, during which he received strong support from the organization and adapted to new responsibilities that leveraged his technical background in a commercial context.

Dr. Sullivan initially joined EAG Laboratories in 2014 as a failure analysis laboratory manager, where he oversaw an analytical laboratory comprising approximately 10 staff members. Under his leadership, the team specialized in dismantling semiconductors and electronics to identify causes of malfunction, enabling other teams to implement corrective measures and enhance product reliability. Dr. Sullivan then served as an account executive from 2019 to 2021 before being promoted to senior account executive. He is particularly proud of his contributions to building and advancing a high-performing laboratory that meets rigorous standards of excellence.

Before joining EAG Laboratories, Dr. Sullivan worked as a failure analysis engineer at Vishay Intertechnology Inc. from 2012 to 2014, concurrently serving as a failure analysis laboratory manager at Vishay Siliconix. Earlier, he excelled as the director of failure analysis at Nanolabs, where he provided failure and materials analysis and consulting expertise between 2011 and 2012.

Among other notable roles, Dr. Sullivan worked for organizations like ISE Labs, SolFocus, Novalux Inc., LSI Logic, and Philips Semiconductors. He began his professional journey as an analyst and ESCA analyst at Surface Science Laboratories in Mountain View in 1986.

In addition to his commitment in the field, Dr. Sullivan manages Earwig Enterprises, a small business through which he created educational board games such as “Infection,” designed to teach players about diseases through engaging gameplay. Although health challenges have temporarily paused further development on projects like “Infection 101,” he remains committed to expanding educational resources related to public health topics.

Dr. Sullivan’s academic foundation has been integral to his professional achievements. He earned a Bachelor of Science in chemistry from the University of California, Berkeley, in 1986. Dr. Sullivan continued his studies at the University of California, San Diego, where he completed coursework toward a master’s degree in physical chemistry and subsequently earned a Doctor of Philosophy in physical chemistry in 1993. Following his doctoral studies, Dr. Sullivan returned to Berkeley for postdoctoral research in physical chemistry from 1993 to 1994 before transitioning fully into industry roles. In addition to his formal education, Dr. Sullivan holds certification in B2B marketing foundations through LinkedIn.

Within his professional circles, Dr. Sullivan serves as chair emeritus and past chair of the IRPS’s failure analysis section. Beyond his work-related endeavors, he is actively engaged with civic organizations and community service initiatives as a volunteer with ASL and Boy Scouts of America Camp. Dr. Sullivan is also a donor to the University of California, San Francisco, cancer research and Saint Jude Children’s Research Hospital, and generously supports Second Harvest Food Bank.

A prolific author and innovator, Dr. Sullivan’s scholarly output includes approximately 20 professional papers, as well as about 30 pieces related to industrial newsletters and technical advertising. He has also written several books, including “Don’t Date Crazy: The Phil-Am Dream Runs Into the American System,” published by Writers Republic LLC in 2017, and “Cancer Sucks: Dealing with Multiple Myeloma,” published by Writers Republic LLC in 2023.

Looking ahead, Dr. Sullivan aims to complete additional books and seek advancement into higher-level leadership roles where he can oversee multiple laboratories. He remains dedicated to fostering an environment where employees are valued and empowered while continuously striving for operational excellence within laboratory sciences.
