In this role, Dr. Tandon is deeply engaged in the scientific operations of the organization, regularly examining samples under a microscope and collaborating closely with research scientists. He also maintains strict oversight of the products offered to the market, ensuring their quality and efficacy. Under Dr. Tandon’s leadership, NeoBiotechnologies has been recognized as one of the fastest-growing biotech companies in the Bay Area of California.

Leveraging his expertise, Dr. Tandon served as the vice president of technology and international development at Biocare Medical LLC from 2011 to 2013. During this period, he contributed to expanding the company’s technological capabilities and global reach. Between 2005 and 2011, Dr. Tandon held the leading role of president at NeoBiomarkers Inc., where he was instrumental in advancing innovations in cancer diagnostics.

Dr. Tandon’s entrepreneurial journey began when he founded NeoMarkers Inc. in 1993. As the company’s founder, president and chief executive officer until 2002, he led the company for nearly a decade before its acquisition by Thermo Fisher Scientific Inc., a significant milestone that solidified his reputation as a leader in antibody development.

Among his earlier positions, Dr. Tandon was the manager of research and development at BioGenex in California from 1991 to 1993. He also served as an assistant professor of medical oncology at the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio between 1984 and 1991. Dr. Tandon’s scientific foundation was established at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) in New Delhi, where he served as a research fellow and teaching assistant from 1975 to 1983 and as a biomedical researcher between 1976 and 1983.

Following his undergraduate degree, Dr. Tandon obtained a Master of Science in biochemistry from the University of Lucknow, India, in 1975, and a Doctor of Philosophy in biochemistry with a focus on reproductive immunology from AIIMS in 1982. He credits his master’s degree as a pivotal moment in his career.

Dr. Tandon is an active member of the American Association for Cancer Research. He is also actively involved in civic capacities, committed to supporting his alma mater through philanthropy, funding renovations such as auditorium upgrades, and striving to elevate the department’s status. Moreover, Dr. Tandon generously supports cancer organizations.

As a leading expert in his field, Dr. Tandon has authored over 60 international scientific publications and articles in peer-reviewed journals. His contributions have been instrumental in advancing antibody technology and cancer diagnostics.

Throughout his career, Dr. Tandon has demonstrated expertise in developing monoclonal antibodies for cancer diagnostics and treatment. He is widely recognized for creating more than 20,000 monoclonal antibodies used globally for research, diagnostics and therapy, an achievement that earned him the nickname “MAbMan,” short for “Monoclonal Antibody Man.” Additionally, Dr. Tandon, who has specialized in breast cancer prognosis, has made significant contributions that led to the development of Herceptin, a groundbreaking drug marketed by Genentech for breast cancer treatment based on HER2 receptor research. His work has had a profound impact on modern medicine and continues to save countless lives worldwide.

Dr. Tandon’s personal life reflects his dedication to science and family. His spouse, Dr. Shobha Tandon, MD, PhD, is a nationally recognized ophthalmologist and surgeon who operates her own laser eye clinic and optical center.
