Damon K. Love, PhD, co-founder and scientific director of Love Charitable Foundation Inc., has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Scientists for dedication, achievements, and leadership in the nonprofit sector.
Dr. Love is a seasoned professional in oncology, Parkinson’s disease, and molecular pharmacology who co-founded Love Charitable Foundation Inc. after many years in pharmaceuticals and research. As the nonprofit organization’s scientific director in New York City since 2018, he leads its program curriculum design and implementation, develops and supervises the college student mentorship program for high school summer research mentees, writes grants, designs and delivers a cancer awareness workshops series and, among other duties, partners with Weill Cornell Medical College for ongoing summer research initiatives. Most notably, Dr. Love created the SEED (Science, Exploration, Education, Discovery) program, which focuses on science, technology, engineering and mathematics subjects, aiming to enhance scientific knowledge and skills among children, particularly in underprivileged areas, starting from middle school.
Beginning his career as a financial consultant at TIAA-CREF in 1994, Dr. Love pivoted when he became a conference producer for the Institute for International Research’s biotechnology division in 1999. From there, he became a graduate research fellow at Stony Brook University, a postdoctoral research fellow at Weill Cornell Medical College in the Lab of Anthony Brown, PhD, and a postdoctoral research fellow at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center in the Lab of Yuman Fong, MD, between 2009 and 2009. He also taught as an adjunct professor at the American Public University System, teaching biology and human genetics courses from 2010 to 2014. Dr. Love subsequently held roles at Eli Lilly and Company as an oncology medical science liaison until 2020 and at Sun Pharma Advanced Research Company Ltd. as an associate director for field medical at Sun Pharma Advanced Research Company, leading field medical initiatives and driving the medical affairs division, where he focused on oncology, neuroscience and dermatology
Becoming highly educated in preparation for his career, Dr. Love received a Bachelor of Arts in neuroscience from Princeton University in 1993. He then attended Stoney Brook University, where he completed the fundamentals in the bioscience industry certificate program at its Center for Biotechnology in 2008, followed by a PhD in molecular and cellular pharmacology in 2009. Additionally, he completed coursework toward a master’s degree in clinical investigation at the Joan & Sanford I. Weill Medical College of Cornell University. Beyond his educational achievements, Dr. Love is a member of the American Association for the Advancement of Science, the American Association for Cancer Research, the New York Academy of Sciences, the American Society for Clinical Oncology, and the American Society for Pharmacology and Experimental Therapeutics. His success has earned him several grants throughout his career and a Presidential Lifetime Achievement Award in 2024, among other accolades.
